Tips to Keeping Shoes Forever

Hi you all!  Today we are going to give you all some amazing tips on how to make your shoes last! You guys brought the best of the best, and broke the bank on those pair you just had to bless your closer with them. Are you ready for it? I know you all want to learn how to make those expensive shoes last as long as they are worth. It’s only right! So enough teasing, we’re going to give you all tips for men and women shoes. I know I know, it’s too much wonderfulness for you guys to handle.  But prepare yourself for the top 5.

Tip 1: The simplest and most valuable way to protect your shoes from…just life is to replace the bottom sole and use heel caps before they even touch the pavement. The sole adds grip to the shoe, less slips and falls. Guys this also applies to you but more remember to replace your sole when needed. The heel cap protects the heel from wearing down too soon. Also from those deadly cracks in sideways. I know I have scraped a good amount of heels from those never failing cracks.

Tip 2: You guys and gals aren’t ready for this one, I already know. Magic Eraser’s you know the one’s from Mr. Clean, yes the bald guy. Those are great for removing stains from light colored shoes. BUT use them as soon as you see the stain heels, sneakers, or flats. Mr. Clean might be able to revitalize your shoes. A quick way to avoid the petty stains all together is to remember to waterproof your shoes, very simple and very useful.

Tip 3:  If you really want your shoes to last and be just as wonderful as the day they were dusted off and put on display, KEEP THE BOX. Or at the VERY least the shoe bag. The box is the bed for the shoes and the bag is the blanket. You can have one without the other, but why? Leave enough space between them so they aren’t squished and can breathe. Keep out of direct sunlight so the color doesn’t fade.

Tip 4: Fix problems as soon as they happen! No really as soon as it happened, stains, broken heel or seam, or messed up sole anything. Treat it as a wound, the sooner the better. You can’t be too soon, but you can be too late when it comes to certain wear and tear. So just be aware of the warnings signs of your shoes.

Tip 5: For the modern day gentleman, remember to polish your shoes on a regular to keep the supple, shiny, and a bit water resistant. Shoetrees are great for retaining the shape of your shoe it also stops the creasing from daily wear. Those are much better for the gentl

Tips for being more comfortable in high heels

Hi Ladies,
I return to you with a question I received.  How do I make heels more comfortable? Everyone has that questions and apparently no one has answered it or at least answered it correctly. So I come to you with options! Everyone loves choices.

Your first delectable choice is … Heel pads! Everyone knows this but incase you don’t they are great way to add some cushion to the heel of your foot. When you really think about all your weight that is being pushed down onto that small area. Your feet deserve them and they inexpensive, effective, and make a huge difference. They won’t add any height to your foot so they won’t make your shoes any tighter.
Next one is .. Arch Support ladies! A full insole will help distribute the pressure throughout your whole foot making them a lot more comfortable. The only con is that they do make yours a bit snug.  So just be aware but they are a big help though.
Next is toe tape.. This is a big help for those who have hammertoe or are afraid of getting it. This just allows you to tape your toes together so they won’t curl. It also can alleviate some nerve pain you may have within your toes.
Also are anti-slip heel inserts help if your shoes are too big, feet too narrow whatever the cause the result is preventing blisters on your feet they will help you keep your feet in place and reduce friction. Another aid to reduce friction is a rub relief stick, it coats your feet in a clear waxy substance that help protect against that stubborn slingback strap.
Last but not least my dears is Moleskin. It is a great product to prevent blisters. It a soft adhesive cotton that you can cut and stick to your sensitive spots and you can always line the inside of shoe. So ladies if your shoe cuts a little to close to the skin your can line it with this fabric to add a little plush to it.

Well that is all we have for now but ladies if you have any additional comfort solutions add them in the comment box. Click over to SuperbFootwear.com and shoot us an email about and any questions, concerns you have. We want to here from you all!

Use your thumbs and fingers to apply pressure to the exact areas you want to relax. Apply enough pressure to generate a response, but not so much that the pain is constant and severe.  Be sure to apply pressure to the entire foot reflex zone

What if I have Hammertoe?

Welcome, Welcome… Thanks for checking in or just checking back! Today we shall uncover the mysterious HAMMERTOE. We are going to find out the whys, what’s, where, and how’s of the hammertoe. Do they buckle or curl? Is it genetic or preventable? I know. There are so many questions this is what Superb Footwear is here to do, answer your questions and give you practical solutions.

What is a hammertoe: bending of one or both joints of the toes

Why do you get hammertoe: Some people have inherited the tendency to develop hammertoes simply from bad foot structure creating an unstable stance concerning pressure. While some have arthritis, which directly affects the joints. Others cause it by ill-fitting shoes.
See what happens when ignore mamma when she told you those shoes were too small, you get hammertoe. Better watch out with those tights pants too.

Where is the pain: All in the toes, especially the top of the toes. The joints become very sensitive to touch the more rigid they get. The toes become harder to move, joints begin to swell. All in all it is not a pretty sight. Consistent corns are a warning signs to the possibility of hammertoe.
Listen And Pay Attention To Your Body.

How do you get rid of it? There are two stages of hammertoe. A flexibility stage where you can intervene and fix the problem without surgery usually with banding it up to flatten out the joint. The other stage is rigid; the tendons become tough pressing the joint of alignment. Once the tendons become rigid the toe can no longer be moved meaning surgery is the only option.

Hammertoes are progressive – they don’t go away by themselves and usually they will get worse over time. However, not all cases are alike – some hammertoes progress more rapidly than other. To find out what is really going on talk to your doctor and find out. Afterwards, come back and tell us how it went if you are in the flexibility stage or the dreaded rigid stage. How did you fix it? Did insurance cover the cost of surgery if needed? How many of you all have had hammertoe? The people want to know, help us inform them. Stay in touch for our next article for How to Spot…

What to do with moldy shoes?

Springtime can mean a lot of things you guys and one of those things is rain. And if your not careful that could also mean mold. All this humidity in the air and open windows it’s not as farfetched idea as some may hope. Mold is very real and can be very easily in your clothes if you don’t watch out.  Believe it or not, mold growth on clothes and shoes is relatively common,. Mold generally refers to fungal growth that thrives in a warm, moist environment. These fungal spores can be airborne, and they can land and grow on almost any type of surface when conditions are right. But we have some tips for you to keep your belongings and warning signs for you to watch out for.

Tips to look out for:

There are three warning signs of mold exposure: Moisture, Odor, and Discoloration. Moisture is self-explanatory. Odor - If you smell a musty or earthy smell in or on your clothes or shoes it could possibly mean there is mold. Discoloration - Mold comes in all different colors and textures. If you see areas of color change, you have a problem.
Leather shoes are especially susceptible to mold. It is not a breathable fabric and feet tend to sweat. That combination is not good for anything.
If you tend to leave your sweaty gym clothes in your gym bag over night, the moisture and being kept in a dark area is a breathing ground for mold. You might need to watch out, and wash that bag a.s.a.p. before it’s too late.

If you hit that point where the dots are connecting and you realize your favorite pair of shoes and/or pants has mold on it, it’s okay. We might be able to save them.

If your shoes have mold:

1.    Brush away all visible mildew. (Suede shoes only step)
2.    Pour ½ a cup of rubbing alcohol and ½ of warm water, equal amounts of both.
3.    Dip dishtowel into solution and wipe any past mildew spots, go over it twice.
4.    Dry shoe with a different towel

If your clothing has mold:

1. Dusts off the mildew and throw it in the washing machine. Replace laundry detergent with ¾ cup of vinegar in the load.

2. Brush off loose mold, place in the sun to dry thoroughly. Pre soak item in cold water and wash in hot water. Replace it in the sun to dry, if bleach safe add bleach to the washing machine for a second cycle. If not bleach safe solution of salt and lemon juice.

3. Mildicides and fungicides may also be purchased and sprayed onto clothing. Make sure to test first to make sure they don’t cause fading or discoloration on the fabric.

Keep in mind that mold will gradually consume the material that it is growing on. If mold growth is left untreated for a lengthy period of time, it ultimately may result in rotted and unsalvageable material.

If you all ever had mold anywhere let us know how you took care of it. Did you use at home remedies or did you have a professional take care of it?
